TV Brackets
Whilst the majority of people are using 12v LCD flat screen TV's free standing, there are increasing numbers choosing to mount them on a bracket. Using a VESA mounting bracket will save precious work top space in your Caravan or Motorhome but you should take into account the following before deciding to put your 12 volt TV on a bracket let alone which one:
The type of wood used in Caravans and Motorhomes whilst it has good structural integrity is of a different weight and density of that used for domestic environments. This coupled with the constant vibration whilst travelling around means that screws should not be used as they will invariably work loose causing potentially hundreds of pounds of damage to your furniture and the TV. It is important to site the TV bracket in an area such as a wardrobe wall where you can gain access to the reverse side so that nuts and bolts with a metal plate to spread the load can be used.
If you wish to lacate the TV some distance from the vehicle manufacturers originally designated TV point, ensure that you can easily run all the appropriate cables (Aerial, 12v power, mains power) to your prefered location. If installing a new 12v socket for your TV, use as short a run of cable as possible using a thick guage of cable to avoid voltage drop and fuse it at the battery end.
There are hundreds of different VESA mounting brackets available. If you choose a bracket with significant movement you will need to consider some sort of restraining strap or removing the TV for travelling. The Vision 2000 brackets are made specifically for Motorhomes and Caravans consequently they have a locking mechanism for safe travelling. The Svensen range have the capability to leave the wall plate on the wall and quickly remove the rest of the bracket still attached to the TV.
